Classification
of Hazardous Waste - Hazardous Waste Lists

Classes of waste or specific types of
waste were listed because they either exhibited characteristics or contained acutely
hazardous or toxic constituents.
Wastes from non-specific sources are found on the F-list. These are primarily generic
manufacturing and processing wastes. Examples from the F-list include spent solvents,
electroplating sludges and wastes from pesticide manufacturing.
Wastes from specific sources are found on the K-list. These wastes are from specifically
identified industries such as wood preserving, petroleum refining and chemical
manufacturing.
Discarded commercial chemical products are identified on the P-list and the
U-list-Non-Specific Sources.
