No bare conductors nor earth returns may be used for the wiring of any temporary circuit.
Earth returns are prohibited because they are not always effective and may present a
serious hazard on temporary work sites.
Description of Earth Returns
- Suitable disconnecting
switches or plug connectors shall be installed to permit the disconnection of all
ungrounded conductors of each temporary circuit.
- Lamps for general illumination shall be protected from accidental contact or breakage.
To be adequately protected, lamps shall be elevated at least 7 feet from normal working
surfaces or by a suitable fixture or lampholder with a guard.
- Flexible cords and cables shall be protected from accidental damage. Sharp corners and
projections shall be avoided. Flexible cords and cables shall be provided with protection
to avoid damage when passing through doorways or other pinch points.
