National prohibited discharges
( 40 CFR §403.5(b) ), outlined below, apply to all wastewater discharges to the POTW. Compare these limits to your routine lab waste streams being discharged into the sewer to ensure you are not exceeding the limits.

The following pollutants must not be introduced into a POTW:

Pollutants causing fires or explosions

Corrosives

Solid or viscous pollutants

Oxygen demanding pollutants

Heat

Petroleum and mineral oils

Toxic gases causing worker health and safety problems
