Whenever a new hazard is introduced into an employee work area, employees
must be given training that includes:
- The methods used to detect the presence or release of a
hazardous chemical in the work area (e.g., monitoring conducted by the employer)
- The observations used to detect the presence or release of a
hazardous chemical in the work area (e.g., odor)
- The physical and health hazards of chemicals in the work
area
- The appropriate protective measures (e.g., work practices)
- The components and details of the employer's hazard
communication program, including an explanation of how associates can extract and
use relevant information from the labeling system and the MSDSs.
