ARMY SAFETY PROGRAM

.

Supervisor Responsibilities

AR 385-10 describes safety program responsibilities for commanders, supervisors, and Army personnel.

Commanders at every level are responsible for assigned personnel and equipment protection and for effective safety and health policy implementation. To accomplish these responsibilities, a commander will use the risk management process and evaluate established standards to determine if additional risk controls are required.

A commander will apply Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) standards and other federal safety requirements to garrison and industrial-type operations and to military-unique equipment, systems, and operations in so far as practicable. For example, a commander will provide the required personal protective equipment (PPE) and ensure PPE training and use.
