Electrical and Other Ignition Sources

The current edition of the National Electrical Code (NEC) specifically defines the extent of Class I or Class II, Division 1 and Division 2 Locations for spraying operations using flammable and combustible materials. The definitions are summarized here.

Class I or Class II, Division 1 Locations include:
  • The interiors of spray booths or spray rooms
  • The interior of exhaust ducts
  • Any area in the direct path of spray operations.
