Slips, trips, and falls are common occurrences in laboratories. To
avoid this from happening in the laboratory:
- Keep work areas clean and uncluttered
- Do not block access to emergency equipment and exits
- Do not use aisles, hallways, and stairways as storage areas
for containers, equipment, or waste
- Avoid climbing, standing, or placing ladders on unstable
furniture, equipment, or work surfaces
- Avoid walking on or near wet surfaces; clean up spills
immediately
- Use the handrail when walking on stairs
- Wear the appropriate rubber-soled shoes
- Clean the work area on completion of an operation and at the
end of each day
- Avoid placing cards, cables and compressed gas supply lines
across sites.
