The following describe corrosives:
- A corrosive agent is a reactive compound or element that
produces a destructive chemical change in the material upon which it is acting
- A corrosive material may destroy body tissues, metals,
plastics, and other materials upon contact
- Per EPA regulations, a waste material is considered
corrosive if its pH
is less than or equal to 2.0 or above 12.5.
Examples of corrosives include acids and bases.
