Carcinogen
A substance or agent capable of causing or producing cancer in mammals. A carcinogen is defined by the OSHA Hazard Communication Standard as any substance which meets one or more of the following criteria:
  • Regulated by OSHA as a carcinogen
  • Listed as a carcinogen or potential carcinogen in National Toxicology Program’s Annual Report on
    Carcinogens
  • Evaluated by the International Agency for Research on Cancer (IARC) and found to be a carcinogen or potential carcinogen.
