Whenever the presence of unexploded ordnance (UXO) such as grenades, shells,
mines, and other explosive devices is a possibility, personnel and support shall be
provided with equipment necessary to locate, identify, recover/remove/dispose, and
consolidate all ordnance or energetic items from work areas. These efforts shall be
conducted in a safe and environmentally sound manner by qualified and trained personnel
(e.g., Army, bomb squad). Prior to starting work, it is recommended that all field personnel attend general orientation sessions that include lectures and visual training aids covering the various types of ordnance. |
