Chemical Hazards and Reactions

.
Liquids
  • Some chemicals help other contaminants to penetrate the skin. Dimethyl sulfoxide(DMSO) is extremely well absorbed and is used in medicine to transport drugs through the skin.

  • Liquids present a splash hazard. Appropriate protective equipment (e.g., goggles, faceshield) and clothing (e.g., gloves, coveralls) must be worn to prevent contact with eyes and skin.
