BLOODBORNE PATHOGENS

Recordkeeping

Employers must establish and maintain accurate records for each employee with occupational exposure. Employee medical and training records are required by the Bloodborne Pathogens Standard.

The medical records must include employee's:
  • Name
  • Social security number
  • Hepatitis B vaccination status
  • Post-exposure evaluation
  • Follow-up procedures results
  • Healthcare professionals written opinion
  • Other specific information provided to the healthcare professional.

Training records must include:

  • Training dates
  • Contents or summary of the training session
  • Names and qualifications of the trainers
  • Names of job titles of trainees.

All training records must be kept three years from the date of the training.
