There is usually not much question about using the short flexible cord
attached to an approved appliance or tool. Likewise, there is usually no question about an
extension cord used temporarily to permit the use of the appliance or tool in its intended
manner at some distance from a fixed outlet. However, there are questions when the usage
is not obviously temporary, and a flexible cord is used to avoid providing a fixed outlet
