Wiring Design and Protection - Overcurrent Protection

Conductors and equipment shall be protected from overcurrent in accordance with their ability to safely conduct current. Feeders and branch circuits over 600 volts, nominal shall also have short-circuit protection. The requirements described on the following screens apply to overcurrent protection of circuits rated 600 volts, nominal or less.

An important, basic requirement for all overcurrent devices is to ensure they have adequate interrupt ratings for the circuit in which they will be installed.
