Another important consideration for underground piping is protection against
corrosion. Underground pipe and tubing and outdoor ferrous pipe and tubing shall be
covered or painted with a suitable material for protection against corrosion. Once installation is completed, piping systems shall be tested and proved gas tight at 1½ times the maximum operating pressure, and shall be thoroughly purged of air before being placed in service. The material used for testing oxygen shall be oil free and non-combustible. Flames shall not be used to detect leaks. |
