General Requirements - Protection of Personnel |
|||
Because of the danger of burns and clothing catching fire, employees exposed
to the hazards created by welding, cutting, or brazing operations shall be protected by personal
protective equipment in accordance with the requirements of 29 CFR 1910.132. Appropriate protective clothing required for any welding operation will vary with the size, nature, and location of the work to be performed. Welders should always select clothing materials which will provide maximum protection from sparks and hot metal. The shirt should have full sleeves, no pockets, and should be worn outside the trousers with collar buttoned. The trousers should have no cuffs and should extend well down to the safety shoes. Safety shoes and fire-resistant gauntlet gloves are also needed. |
