Welding and cutting certain containers may constitute a special situation
that requires additional safety precautions beyond basic and special precautions. No welding, cutting, or other hot work shall be performed on used drums, barrels, tanks, or other containers until they have been thoroughly cleaned. Cleaning must remove all flammable materials present or any substances such as greases, tars, acids, or other materials which might produce flammable or toxic vapors when subjected to heat. Any pipeline or connections to the drum or vessel being welded shall be disconnected or blanked. |
