With semiautomatic feeding, as in the case of a
power press, operators use a mechanism to place the piece of stock being processed under
the ram at each stroke. Operators do not reach into the danger area, and the danger area
is completely enclosed. The graphic below shows a chute feed. It may be either a horizontal or inclined chute into which each piece of stock is placed by hand. Using a chute feed on an inclined press not only helps center the piece of stock as it slides into the die, but may also simplify the problem of ejection. |
