Rotating (Including In-Running Nip Points) Motions |

One type of nip point
is caused by parts with parallel axes rotating in opposite directions. These parts may be
in contact (producing a nip point) or these parts may be in close proximity to each other.
In the latter case, the stock fed between the rolls produces the nip points. This danger
is common on machinery with intermeshing gears, rolling mills, and calenders as shown in
the graphic to the left. |
