Derricks - Operating Near Electric Lines

Any overhead wire shall be considered energized until the owner of the line or the electrical utility authorities indicate that it is not an energized line.

Before the commencement of operations near electrical lines, the owners of the lines or their authorized representatives shall be notified and provided with all pertinent information.

The minimum clearance between energized lines and any part of the derrick or load shall be 10 feet plus 4 inches for every 10
kV over 50 kV, or twice the length of the line insulator. However, the distance may never be less than 10 feet.
