Eye and Face Protection - Inspection and Maintenance

Proper maintenance of eye and face protectors includes disinfecting them periodically. Personal protective equipment that has been previously used should be disinfected before being issued to another employee. Also, when each employee is assigned protective equipment for extended periods, the equipment should be cleaned and disinfected regularly.

Several methods of disinfecting eye-protective equipment are acceptable. The most effective method begins with disassembling the goggles or spectacles. The process of disinfecting eye protective equipment actually consists of two steps. Click on the appropriate term below for more information.
