The employer shall maintain equipment as needed. All fire fighting equipment
must be inspected at least annually to ensure safe operational condition of the equipment.
Maintenance and inspection is important to ensure fire-fighting equipment, protective clothing, and protection devices are in proper working order when needed. Portable fire extinguishers and respirators shall be inspected at least monthly. The employer shall assure that respiratory protection devices worn by fire brigade members meet the requirements of 29 CFR 1910.134 and the requirements contained in Subpart L. These respirators must also be certified under 42 CFR 84. |
