Guarding Floor and Wall Openings and Holes - Introduction |

Holes and openings can present extremely dangerous hazards that must be
eliminated. People may fall through the openings or over the sides to the level below.
Objects, such as tools or parts, may fall through the holes and strike people or damage
machinery on lower levels. More detailed information concerning the guarding of floor and
wall openings and holes can be found in CFR 1910.23.
