Pollution Prevention - Hierarchy

The Pollution Prevention Act of 1990 sets a priority for preventing or reducing pollution at the source over recycling, treatment and disposal.

1. Prevention

   2. Recycling

      3. Treatment

          4. Disposal

Prevention = Source Reduction + Other practices that reduce or eliminate pollutants prior to any other steps in the waste management hierarchy
