Container/Tank/Containment Building Treatment

It has been a long standing Agency policy to allow generators to treat in accumulation tanks, containers, and containment buildings without requiring a permit. However, many states do not recognize this provision, and it is important that generators check with their state environmental protection agency before engaging in on-site treatment. Further guidance on generator treatment can be found in Agency memorandum. Generators treating in containers are still required to follow the container management standards in 40 CFR Part 265 Subpart I.
