Hazardous Waste Storage Areas - Warnings/Emergencies

The hazardous waste storage area must be equipped with the following equipment:

• An internal communication or alarm system.
• A communication device (i.e., telephone or two-way radio) capable of summoning emergency assistance from local authorities.
• Portable fire extinguishers.
• Spill control equipment.
• Water from a hose or sprinkler system or foam producing equipment (in addition to the fire extinguisher).

Note: Required equipment is listed in 40 CFR §265.32 which is incorporated by reference into the generator requirements in 40 CFR Part 262.34(a)(4). The requirements are less stringent for 100-1000 kg/month generators.
