Hazardous Waste Storage Areas - Accumulation Time Limits

There are no accumulation time limits imposed upon conditionally exempt small quantity generators as long as they never accumulate more than 1000 kg of hazardous waste or 1 kg of acutely hazardous waste on site.

100-1000 kg/month generators may accumulate waste on site for 180 days, or 270 days if they are located greater than 200 miles from the treatment, storage or disposal facility.

Large quantity generators may only accumulate waste on site for 90 days without a RCRA storage permit.

Check your State regulations to verify that they adopted the 270-day provision.
