Hazardous Waste Storage Areas - Overview

When hazardous waste is moved from the laboratory (point of generation) to the designated storage area, additional RCRA regulations must be considered
( 40 CFR §262.34 ).

This is the point at which the "clock starts." You now have 90 days if you are a large quantity generator, or 180 days ( or possibly 270 days) if you are a SQG to transport the waste off-site.

Hazardous waste containers must be labeled "Hazardous Waste" and dated once they enter the designated storage area.
