Hazardous
Waste Generators - Satellite Accumulation A generator may manage his/her waste at the point of generation in a satellite accumulation area. A satellite accumulation area allows a generator to accumulate up to 55 gallons of hazardous waste, or one quart of acutely hazardous waste in a container, without triggering the counting requirements and storage limitations. Any amount in excess of 55 gallons, or one quart of acute waste must be managed under the provisions of 40 CFR §262.34(a), or transported to a storage area regulated under 40 CFR Parts 264 or 265 within three days of the accumulation. The 55 gallon limit applies to the total amount of all waste streams generated and placed within the satellite area, it does not apply to each individual waste code.
