Classification
of Hazardous Waste - Waste Samples

It is important that you know the origin of the
samples - they may be listed hazardous waste. For example, a soil sample collected on the
grounds of an abandoned pesticide plant may be F020.
Samples are often acidified in the field, depending on the necessary analysis. Upon
disposal, acidified samples are corrosive (D002) if they are liquid with a pH of <2.
Waste samples may be ignitable, reactive, or toxic.
