Environmental Statutes - Toxic Substance Control Act (TSCA)

Toxic Substance Control Act (TSCA) regulates the manufacture, distribution, use and disposal of many toxic chemicals.

Of primary relevance to some analytical laboratory operations, TSCA regulates PCBs.

Your laboratory's environmental coordinator must be concerned with PCBs in the lab and throughout the facility (e.g., in electrical equipment).

Laboratory personnel primarily must be knowledgeable of TSCA regulations regarding marking, containers, accumulation time and storage for disposal.

(See Section 2 of this manual for more information on TSCA.)
