Resource Conservation and Recovery Act (RCRA)

For most laboratories, the Resource Conservation and Recovery Act (RCRA) has the greatest impact on waste management. RCRA regulates the storage, transportation, treatment, and disposal of hazardous waste, and permitting of these activities. In addition, RCRA regulates underground storage tanks, and recycling and procurement of recycled goods. (See Section 2 of this manual for more information on RCRA.)
